This Week's Thought
It's not just how many hours you sleep — it's how you sleep. This week, we're talking about what's blocking deep, restorative sleep and how a simple evening ritual can make all the difference.

Let's Understand Your Body
During sleep, your body isn't just resting — it's repairing cells, consolidating memory, and rebalancing hormones. But screen light, late-night caffeine, or irregular bedtimes can easily disrupt this process.
Melatonin is the sleep hormone released in darkness. Exposure to blue light in the evening (phone, TV) tricks your brain into thinking it's still daytime, delaying melatonin production. That's why falling asleep can feel hard — or why even a full night's sleep can feel low quality.
A consistent evening routine is one of the most effective ways to signal to your body that it's time to wind down.
Your Hecna Tip
Turn off all screens and dim the lights 30 minutes before bed. Even this simple change can speed up melatonin production.

Herb of the Week — Lemon Balm Tea Ritual
Lemon balm is known for its calming effect on the nervous system. But turning it into a small evening ritual — not just drinking it as tea — is what really makes the difference.
Ritual suggestion: 45 minutes before bed, leave your phone in another room, brew a cup of lemon balm tea, and spend those few minutes doing nothing else — just focusing on its scent.
A Little Reminder
You don't need to build a perfect nighttime routine — just one small step. We forget this too some nights; what matters is being able to return to it often.
